10 steps to enhanced hearing
Getting to know you
A hearing test can be daunting for many, so we begin by finding out about your hearing difficulties to gain an understanding of your desired outcome, so that we can provide you with the best solution.
Otoscopic examination
An otoscope is used to examine the outer ear canal & eardrum before a hearing test is carried out, to find any visible issues, such as wax buildup, which determines if you need wax removal.
Ear wax removal
If a buildup of ear wax is discovered, you will receive ear wax removal using a procedure that is best suited to your needs.
Pure-tone audiometry
This is a response test, where you’ll be given headphones to wear & will be exposed to a series of sounds at various frequencies. You’ll then be asked to press a button every time you hear a sound.
Speech perception test
In this step, you’ll listen to spoken words or sentences at different volumes & repeat them back to the audiologist. This helps determine your ability to understand speech.
Tympanometry
A small probe is placed into the ear to measure the movement of your eardrum. This helps diagnose disorders that can lead to hearing loss.
Results & discussion
The audiologist will discuss the results with you and talk you through your options.

If you’re having trouble hearing conversations, have a constant ringing in your ears, find yourself increasing the volume on your TV frequently or have sudden onset hearing loss, it might be time for a hearing test.
Are hearing tests painful or invasive?
No, hearing tests are non-invasive and painless. They simply involve listening to sounds through headphones and indicating what you can hear.

Adjustment periods vary, but most people get used to their new hearing aids within a few weeks to a few months.
How often should I get my hearing tested?

Do hearing aids work for all types of hearing loss?
